Psychotherapy

Services Offered

Individual Psychotherapy– I see adults with diverse sociocultural identities and histories and believe our cultural contexts shape and inform our experiences of and responses to the world around us. In addition, I have extensive training in psychodynamic and psychoanalytic theory and work from a relational perspective that is informed by Buddhist psychology. I have an engaged and interactive style of working and anticipate that we will be partners in a mutual process. I strive to create an atmosphere that invites vulnerable, open and honest dialogue.

Couple Psychotherapy- I work with gay/lesbian, straight and bisexual couples in short and long-term relationships who come from similar as well as diverse ethnic, racial, class and religious backgrounds. I specialize in helping couples resolve conflicts and deepen their intimacy. I approach couple therapy with a blend of systems and psychodynamic thinking, and attend to the individuals in the couple and the couple itself. I work with couples to learn new ways of communicating and relating, to heal ruptures, to manage life transitions and losses, to increase intimacy, and to work together as a solid co-parenting team.

The Process of Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is a collaborative process and your active participation influences your experience and the outcome. It is designed to help you gain emotional and psychological resilience and wellbeing. You may at times, however, feel uncomfortable or may experience an increase in painful emotions as we work together and as you learn how to manage these feelings.
